A browser-only matcha video effect: animated liquid distortion, olive-green color, and shifting grain.

What is Matcha Filter?

Matcha Filter is a browser-based effect studio for the matcha look: animated liquid displacement, painterly compression, olive-yellow grading, and grain that changes between frames. Files are decoded from a local object URL, rendered through WebGL2, and recorded to WebM or saved as PNG, so the site runs no media-processing server.

What can Matcha Filter do?

  • 01

    Animated liquid distortion

Flow fields bend the whole frame over time instead of a fixed tint.

  • 02

    Painterly compression

Smoothing, edge emphasis, and tonal steps build an oil-painted surface.

  • 03

    Three live controls

Filter strength, liquid motion, and film grain adjust while a clip plays.

  • 04

    Local-only processing

Object URLs, WebGL2, and MediaRecorder run in the tab; no upload endpoint.

  • 05

    Browser export

Photos save as PNG; videos record in real time to WebM (VP9 or VP8).

  • 06

    Original comparison

A hold control shows the untouched frame next to the treated one.

  • 07

    Companion filter remover

A separate page reduces green tint, grain, and crushed contrast in clips.
